Happy St. Patrick's Day
Kevin, Madeline and I spent the afternoon at the Phoenix Zoo. It was packed with kids and families! We were lucky that most of the animals were out for viewing and the weather was perfect. The sun was hidden behind the clouds all day (which never happens in AZ) and there was a cool breeze.
Madeline wore her green Irish shirt and her backpack which has a leash attached so she cannot run away! We use this with her when we are in big crowds just to be safe :)
On the way home from the Zoo, we stopped at a friend of Kevin's house where his daughters were hosting a bake sale. Madeline enjoyed a yummy cupcake and got to meet some new kids.

Madeline has been feeling a lot better today and she even played with her friend Lauren all morning. Unfortunately though she developed a red bumpy rash all over her body which I discovered on the way home from our friends house. I took Maddy to her pediatrician and they did the usual strep test and other testing. The rash is actually from the high fever she had and this is just another sign that her little body is trying to fight off that nasty virus. Therefore, we just have to wait it out and the rash should clear up in a few days.
Since we were at the pediatrician office, I went ahead and finally took the plunge to begin her vaccination treatments. Today Maddy received 3 shots in her legs. MMR ( Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) TDap ( Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis) and the Chicken pox vaccination.
This is her first round of shots and she only cried a little bit... but it was over in a second.
Luckily, now Madeline only needs 3 more shots within the next few months and then she is all caught up and will not need any others until she is 4 years old.
Otherwise, Madeline is acting as usual and running around playing like normal. Madeline weighs 25 pounds.

We had scary night last night. Madeline started running a fever around 1pm. She was fussy and wouldn't nap all afternoon and her temperature was steady at 99.9 degrees. She started feeling a little better around 8pm and I gave her a second dose of ibuprofen. She finally fell asleep at 10pm but woke up crying hysterically and vomited all over. Her fever had risen to over 104 degrees so we went straight to the emergency room.
The doctors were very concerned about her high temp so they ran several test including chest ex rays, strep test, blood cultures and a urine sample. They were looking for the possibility of RSV or infections. Madeline had to be be put on a tiny IV for fluids and to receive nausea medicine and fever reducer. All of this was so horrible to watch pour little baby go through.
Luckily she was able to calm down and fall asleep around 2am after the fever reducer kicked in. Her fever broke around 3am and we were able to go home around 4.
All of Maddy's test came back negative and the doctors believe she has a bad virus that has to be treated with lots of Tylenol, rest, and fluids.
Our little girl was in so much pain and went through so much agony with the doctors poking at her for several hours but we are so proud of her. She did great.
We are home today resting up and Madeline seems to be doing just fine.

Faker
Madeline has been fake snoring lately. She thinks it is funny. Maddy also fake sneezes over and over. I think she learned the snoring from her dad!
