Grandpa and the Recorder

Madeline loves music and when she found my old recorder here at Grandma and Grandpa's house, she went crazy! Maddy and Grandpa have fun blowing it as loud as possible and trying to make some music.

This is the first year Madeline was able to go Trick or Treating and she loved it. We went over to Jeff and Kris' house where we ate tacos and brownies before Maddy dressed in her pink princess dress and we put on warm layers. A few of Gabe and Bella's friends were there as well so we had a group of 6 kids and 8 adults to enjoy the evening with. We all walked up the street and through the neighborhood. The kids ran up to doors and got their candy. Maddy learned how to say "Trick or Treat" right away and said "Thank you" to everyone that gave her candy. Madeline carried her black cat bag that Grandma Jill sent for her and it was filled with lots of yummy stuff by the end of the night. We ended the Halloween evening by watching  The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown cartoon.

Grandma Anita's Piano

Grandma Anita is a wonderful piano player and enjoys playing for us. Madeline sat with Grandma for almost an hour last night and sang right along. Maddy played on the keys and had so much fun.

Madeline and I spent an evening with Jeffrey, Kris, Gabe and Bella at their house. Kris made chicken for dinner but of course Maddy could not stop playing long enough to eat with us. She ran straight to the kitchen though once Jeff announced the cookies he baked were ready for eating!

Grandpa's Train

Grandpa Jeff has an entire train room in the upstairs part of his garage. He has tunnels and bridges and several trains running around the room. It is really amazing to see all of the displays and hear the music coming from the little town he has designed. Madeline enjoys helping grandpa use the controls to make the town come alive and grandpa even gave Maddy her own pink engineer cap to wear.

Getting Ready for the Party

The weather outside is FREEZING for us who have Arizona blood. It is about 50 degrees and we had a big bon fire and party outside last night. We bundled up with sweaters, jackets, hats and gloves and headed outside for the fun. Madeline and I grilled a hot dog over the fire and had some apple cider. Maddy was ready to take a break inside after an hour so she headed back inside to enjoy some warm chicken noodle soup before continuing the party.

Madeline and I are wearing our matching Hello Kitty Halloween shirts today. We are helping to get ready for our big Halloween party tonight at Grandma and Grandpa's house. There will be a giant bon fire and lots of hot cider to share with all of our friends and family. Madeline helped grandma carve the pumpkins to set around the fire. Today is also Kevin and my 6 year wedding anniversary so we will celebrate that as well even though Kevin is so far away at home.

We have been in Indiana for a week and have a whole week left to visit friends and family. We have had lots of fun exploring Grandpa's Garage and discovering a garden snake and a real pumpkin patch!
