Time is Flying

Madeline is 19 weeks old today. According to the book "Your Baby's First Year, Week By Week" Madeline has hit all of her milestones so far. I read this book every Thursday. Sometimes Maddy likes for me to read the weekly update outloud to her and sometimes I have to sneak away for my alone time to find out what's going on.
The milestones that we are seeing this week include Maddy reaching and grabbing onto objects without any help. She is also putting almost everything she can get a hold of in her mouth, including my hair, shirt, and fingers!
Maddy also is discovering her own voice. She now makes loud noises and can change the pitch of the sound. She makes all kinds of sounds and does it all day long. She laughs and screams and loves hearing the silly sounds.
Maddy has also found her feet. When sitting up, she grabs onto them and plays with her toes. I think she tries to put them in her mouth!
Madeline is sleeping on average 9 hours a night and taking 2 naps a day. This is normal for a 19 week old.
Madeline started getting a little fussy a few days ago. She has a tiny tooth bud popping through!! So of course I went to Babies R Us and bought every teething ring and toy I could find!! I discovered that freeezing her pacifiers really helps calm her and her sucking on my finger is the most soothing for her.
Maddy doesnt understant the rice ceral yet so she is still just eating around 5 bottles of formula a day. I will wait until next week to try feeding her the cereal again.
I am really enjoying being with her everyday.

We were in the halloween spirit today so Maddy wore her Frankenstien T-Shirt and her pumpkin hat that Grandma Jill sent her. This is what she wore to the pet halloween party and everyone thought she was a boy!! Now we know that we need to dress her a little more like a girl!!

Maizey's Halloween Party

We took Maizey to a Howl-o-Ween Party today at PetSmart. Maizey picked out this witch costume to wear. All of the dogs paraded around the store and went trick or treating at differnt areas. Maizey brought home an entire bag of treats! Ufortunately we had to leave before they announced the winners of the costume contest. Madeline enjoyed seeing all of the sute dogs dressed up in their costumes! We had a really fun day today!

Madeline 18 Weeks Old

Madeline is still enjoying her walker. She can reach all of the toys on it and seems to have a long attention span for playing with them. Madeline has reached all of her suggested milestones for an 18 Week old. She can roll from her tummy to her back, she can reach out and grab onto objects, and she recognizes faces and voices and reacts to things she likes and dislikes. Madeline can also sit up and hold her head steady and turn it in all directions. Although she does not sit up completely on her own, she only needs a tiny bit of support. Madeline has a beautiful smile and laugh and she can light up the entire room with her little smirk. We are so happy to have our little angel.

18 Weeks

Madeline is 18 weeks old now. Our pediatrician told us we could start her on solid foods. Taking the advice of Maddy's Aunt Missy, I purhased 2 different kinds of rice ceral to see what Maddy likes. Yesterday was our first go at rice cereal. I tried to get Maddy to eat the Organic kind. As you can see from the pictures, all she did was spit it right out. I tried putting just a little bit of cereal in her mouth at a time but each time, it came right back out.
Today was our second attempt. I gave her Gerber original rice cereal. This time was a little different. I put a little bit on the spoon and put it in her mouth. Maddy played with the spoon for a second with her tongue, rolled the cereal around ten spit it out! I could tell she was thinking she needed to do something with the cereal but just wasnt quite sure what.
We will try again in a few days.

Fun Pictures

Here are just some pictures from this week. We have been enjoying every minute with Madeline. She is happy all the time, except when she is hungry or tired!

4 Month Check Up

Madeline had her 4 Month check up today with the pediatrician. Maddy is 24 1/4 inches long and weighs 13.12 pounds! These measurements puts her into the 53rd percentile. The doctor told us Madeline is exactly where she needs to be for her age and is completely healthy.

We were given the green flag to begin Maddy on solid foods. We will be trying some rice cereal tonight for dinner. Yummy
We are so proud of our little angel, being a preemie has not affected her at all. I actually believe her early arrival gave her the ammunition to become an amazing and strong little lady.

Rolling!

Today Madeline rolled over for the first time from her tummy to her back! This was a huge shock because we haven't really been practicing this. I just laid her on her tummy and there she went! I thought it might have been luck so we tried it severaltimes and she rolled over and over and over again!! I have video of our little angle growing up!

Madeline is doing great. Grandma Anita bought her a play mat last week so we have been spending lots of time learning and exercising on it. Madeline is slowing learning to crawl. She is able to move her arms and legs like she is swimming and she pushes with her feet. She can move inches at a time right now and is showing great potential to be crawling very soon!
Madeline is going through a growth spurt right now and has slept for over 10 hours the last 2 nights. She has her 4 month Pediatrician check up on Monday so stay tuned for all of the updates!
